Default Rhubarb Crowns Standing Proud?

We have had a rhubarb patch in the garden for several years and all has been well until now. For some reason this spring the crowns are standing proud of the garden surface by as much as 9 inches !! The sticks are about 6 inches long. Should we leave them to get on with life on their own or earth them up in their new raised position?

Good evening Kilmington and welcome to the site. Normally, you would cover the crown with well rotted manure in the autumn doing away with this problem. I would, as you say, earth it up to protect it.
