Default Egg Plant question..

I'm growing a single egg plant (aubergine plant) my question is how do you know when the fruit are ready to pick. It is a 'Blacknite' type if that makes a difference. My plant seems to have bulk small fruit that aren't growing very fast. Also, lots of purple flowers. The largest fruit would be the size of a tennis ball. I hope they hurry up as frost season is nearly here!

im not sure, but eggplants here in the philippines are picked before they become oversized, or they will be less palatable.

in your case i think you must harvest the biggest one so that the plant can give more attention to the newer ones....

enjoy!

Yeah, I'll try a few of them and see if they are ok to eat now I think. At least there is plenty of them

It's better to harvest black nite when it is two-third of its full size. Eggplant's taste changes after being matured. After picking check the seeds, if they are bigger and coarse pick them early.

When aubergines go past their best, the skin looses it's shine.
