Default Too rich

New to veg gardening and i think i have dropped a clanger. I built 3 raised beds recently. filled with top soil purcased locally but it was poor quality. My neighbour has 4 horses and a manure heep the size of a house. I got a trailer of 3 year old manure and dug it into the poor soil. its probably 2/3 soil 1/3 manure. do you think its too rich to plant this year. I was hoping to use these beds for - runner and broad beans, peas, strawberries and brussel sprouts, i'd appreciate any help

Hi Bobby And I, welcome to our forum!! Your raised beds should be fine with that mixture. Not all veggies like manured ground, which ideally should be dug in the previous autumn, but the veggies you are growing should be great. Be sure to really firm the soil down before planting the brussel sprouts.

Hi booby, if you decide to grow any root veg, i.e carrot or parsnip, don't put them in your beds as the manure is said to make them fork. Grow them in pots instead.
