Default When to plant Leeks?

I sowed these Leeks 28 Feb and it says on the pack to plant out mid June. This seems a long time to be in cells to me and they are not looking too good?

Hi Mark, I would get those leeks planted out now if they are hardened off. You need to make a 6 inch deep hole with a dibber (we use a wooden stake) and carefully drop the leek in then fill the hole up with water - not soil. The soil will gradually fill the hole up over time. Space the leeks 6 inches apart.

Leek seedlings that are grown from seed in a seed bed outdoors should be transplanted in June / July.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but is it too late to plant leek seeds?

We got some in a multipack I picked up from poundland and I was going to wait until next season to plant, but I thought I would ask anyway.

Regards

WW

Hi WW, no it's not too late at all to sow leek seeds. It's great to have some young leek plants ready to plant out later in the summer. What variety are they??

Hi WW, you can lift the leek plants as small baby leeks to use whole in recipes rather than leaving them to grow large (although I do like large leeks!) and continue sowing through to July.
