My courgette is in a container and doing well with several coming. I believe I will need to feed it. I only have tomorite at present. Can I use this and if so how much and how often? If not what do I need to do?
Many thanks. Since taking flowers off when courgette formed have had no more problems with them rotting. |

Hi VegN, I use organic seaweed feed for my vegetable plants once a week but a tomato feed is perfect for courgettes. I would feed them once a week now that the courgettes are growing. You can buy bags of well rotted manure from B & Q and I normally put a layer of this in the courgette containers, about two thirds down the container, so there is compost in the bottom, a layer of manure then a layer of compost on the top. I reckon it must help.

The simple answer is yes...mine are planted in a mound..with approx. 12 inch square of 'orse muck under them...realy any feed is better than none..courgettes being greedy beggers...and plenty of water...even a couple of trowels full of compost certainly helps...used that many a time before ..
have a plentiful crop.. ![]() Sure you will with courgettes... ![]() |

thanks for replies. Will give some tomorite tomorrow as it's chucking it down with rain now! I did put some more compost on earlier as decided I needed to give it some support as seemed to be almost falling over. I put a stick in and loosely tied it with string. This raised the plant so there was room for more compost.
