Default what to plant now?

Hi,

I am new to this forum, so firstly hello!!

I am in my 2nd year of veg growing, last year I had a timy plot prepared but this year we have extended it (recently) and I now have lots more space!

Outside I have planted courgettes, sweetcorn, brocolli, sprouts, beans, peas, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions.

In the green house I have tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and chillis.

All are doing well and I am really pleased.

I was just wondering if there is anything that I can put in now as we have just finished another plot?

Also is it too late to replant some carrots and parsnips as I have gaps where the next door cat dug them up!!!

thanks for your help

Bonnie

hey bonnie

firstly id defo get the carrots in where they were dug up, ive just planted some. Parsnips should have been in at least a month ago i think, however i also decided to plant some 2 days ago, im taking a chance on an extended summer so thats up to you really...

what to plant now, i think there is still quite alot you can plant, im certain of a few things you can get in tho.. peas could be planted now, also beetroot, radish, celery, runner beans (if yours arent runners), spring onions, im not sure but there may be some cabbage or cauli's you can get in but you would have to check that with the 'others'

I'm all about the peas, radishes and beans right now - just been planting peas left, right and centre!

Runners are all coming up brilliantly so at the moment so you should definitely get on with those, stagger the planting = stagger the harvest and be constantly in beans

There's always time for radish too - I've had a constant supply for the past month and LOADS more on the way!!

R A D I S H E S !!!!!

Those little beauties grow at an alarming rate and are wonderful to harvest and munch on. Start to finish it's about 5-6 weeks (sometimes less) :-)

And I agree with Tommy, peas are just the most wonderful thing, you just can't have too many. We've been impatiently waiting for the pods to get big enough and finally picked our first pods this week and boy were they tasty !!! Not sure if there's time now to start another planting though.

The other thing I think you should do Bonbon (as you didn't mention it in your list of what you are growing) is plant Herbs and Salad leaves. You can sprinkle plenty of seeds for lettuce, rocket, spinach as well as corriander, parsley and so on. You'll get a swift turnaround and can keep harvesting. Maybe beetroot too but I'm not entirely sure how long they will take to grow.

Good luck

:-)
