Default long term plants

Hi

I have prepared a plot that I think I'm going to use for 'long term plants'
ie asparagus, rubarb etc

I have never grown anything like this before and wondered if anyone has any suggestions of what to put it in and how I can get started

thanks
Bonnie

im really interested in growing some perenial vegetables too

my garden is a new project and pother than rhubarb i had no idea that there were perenial veggies ..ive got black tuscan kale seeds planted ,and will put in jerusalem artichokes and looking for five star broccoli from some where.

i have grown cottage garden flowers before a and one of my faves was purple orach which seeds itself everywhere.....i never realised that it was spinach and useful for salads and stir fries as well as beautiful .so altho not perenial itll be back again and again

We've put a raised bed to asparagus - this is the second year and we picked a few. They now have this beautiful fern. I will post a photo later. Asparagus are easy to grow but you need to make sure they stay weed free. Rhubarb is also very easy. Just plant and it seems to grow. I like that.

jerusalem artichokes have a habit of taking over in the garden if you don't dig every little bit out. I grew some last year and they started taking over so I dug them all up - but they where still coming up this year. Nice vegetable to eat though.
