Have you had alot of rain and heat, Hammer? I just noticed one of mine doing something similar and I've blamed the waether. We've had 6+ inches of rain in 10 days and temps in the high 80s to mid 90s so I thought the cabbage was just growing too fast for it's own good. Maybe someone else has a better idea of what's going on.

Not only have we had a lot of rain, but the cabbage has reached the stage of being ready for cutting. It is moving on the next stage of getting ready to produce a flower stalk.

Hi Hammer, it's down to this blasted rain - mature cabbage heads do split open when it rains so you should really harvest the others and put them in the freezer before they split aswell.
