Default Removing Tomato plant leaves

I read that it is advantageous to remove some leaves to assist with ripening green tomatoes. Can anyone tell me to what extent we should remove them?

you just want to remove the leaves which are stopping the toms getting sun.

I remove all the leaves up to the branch with the first truss.

OK...... this morning (sunny) I removed a lot of tomo leaves and trusses which are far too small to come to anything, either because they were showing slight signs of blight or looking a bit late season, leaving the red fruit on and the green ones to ripen.

I moved the three 40mm pots of rampant Gardeners' Delight to the shelter of the veranda out of the rain and wind and it's blowin' a hooley now and just starting to rain. So no more rain on them now out, they'll only spoil.

I'm pretty pleased with this years crop with a good Summer, except for a damp August which brought on tell tale blight signs. The first week of September was hot and sunny, which has reddened up most of the trusses, so chuffed with my efforts.
