Default Purple Potato Variety

I was watching a cookery programme that had purple potatoes on it. The potatoes had purple skins and purple blotches on the flesh that stayed purple after cooking. Any idea what the variety is please?

That variety will most probably be Potato Arran Victory. Might not be but I think there is a good chance that it was.

There are some purple skinned potatoes on this site and also a rather unusual red potato.

Thank you all. I shall check all those names because I really would like to grow them.

This year 2007 six plants of some black variety were grown as an experiment. The name elude me, but they were just touted black potato seed. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures. The potatoes were about the size of palm sized apple, and very close grained and almost hard like a cricket ball. They boiled up and were dark greyish in colour when cooked. I gave a few to some neighbors and all had postive comments. The taste was similar to normal potatoes, but maybe a little more tasty.

Next year 2008 about 25 will be grown, since my first trial was positive. Again other than the colour the most distinguising characteristic was the hardness of the tubulars. I am rather interested in finding out how well they keep.

They are relatively new in my area, and I haven't seen them in the supermarkets.

Hi Durgan, is that a picture of your dog, and if so, what is the breed and his name.

The dog is Pomeranin, female, three years old, called Neena. I got her off the Internet when she was six months old, from a Chinese family moving back to Hong Kong. I suspect she isn't full Pomeranian, but the breed does vary a lot in appearance. She is a perfect, constant companion; of course, most peope think the same of their dog. She doesn't have any nasty traits, and likes children, and anybody who shows her attention. Her size is appropiate for a household.

She walks 5 km daily before eating, and this is what I feed her daily. After the pet food manufactures recently poisoned many pets with ingredients from China, I decided to make my own. The ingredients are readily available.
