Default Chilli's

I tried to grow some chilli plants last year in my green house. Something ate them to bits!!! Nothing else in the green house was affected but the chilli plants were completely devastated!!! Anyone know what ate them and how i can cure the problem this year?

I have a massive problem in the greenhouse with woodlice - keep an eye out for them and whoosh them out the door when you can!

Earwigs got to my chillis and aubergine last year, they pretty much stripped the leaves so I brought the chillis indoors and they recovered and did ok, was still getting chillis in Novemeber! 4 out of the 6 have overwintered well too and are now springing back to life

I too suspect it is earwigs. I grow an ever increasing amount each year as the plants sell very well on my table outside the house, but they do not like being left in my greenhouse too much overnight, if I keep them in there for more than a few days the cold seems to slow growth quite fast. So I now keep them indoors in the conservatory. I too had some go with earwigs, although mine were sitting on wire shelves so it was not too big an issue, but I did notice that when they were outside they did seem like a magnet for them.

I tend to sprinkle a few slug pellets around mine as last year one whole plant was killed off by the slimy little things! I had no idea woodlice would munch at these!
