Question coffee grounds

Does anyone know how to use spent coffee grounds on the garden safely? I have been saving them all year to help my tomatos and runner beans along but am a bit worried they might be too strong

Thanks for the link johnmichael, it has answered my question just fine! I did use them last year too but put them around established plants. This year I want to use them around young plants and was worried they be too strong or even toxic. I like the idea of making liquid fertilizer with them and to use them against the snail invasion too!
