Question Strange Tomatoe Problem

Hi folks, a strange one here. Ive been growing tomatoes for several years and mostly its been pretty decent. This year my plants were going well but a strange mark has began to appear on the leaves, it almost looks like a burn of sorts. Does anybody know what this is (see photo's attached) and if this is going to ruin the toms when they eventually grow?

looks like scortch, have the leaves been wet on a sunny day? the water droplets can act like a magnifying glass and burn the leaves.

not a big problem so long as it doesn't happen very often.

I guess it could well have been watered and still remained wet with droplets before the sun came out. Well im relieved its not disease but i'll be sure to be careful in future!

Have you been watering with a plant food added? Whilst the above posts are correct I've seen your pictures and it looks like there maybe grey/white patches on the leaves and this i believe is plant food which damages the plant leave if in direct sun light!

yes tomato food (with seaweed extract apparantly). Should I be looking to shade them?

don't put feed on the leaves and don't have big drops of water sitting on them either. water the soil, not the leaves. you can mist the leaves with certain types of plant food but it's easy to do more damage than help.

Yes it's water burns - maybe you watered them in the morning and the tunnel/greenhouse gets really hot and the leaves burn. Water the roots in the morning and spray late afternoon early evening as the flower do need a misting to set.

Thanks for the tips folks, the newer shoots are fine so maybe it happened on a particularly hot day when i wasnt being careful enough with the watering can!

Leaf burn most definitely - happened to me last week when I was just an hour late in rolling up my plastic greenhouse window. As one of the other posters said the water/condensation that builds up overnight can result in leaf burn if you do not get enough air to the plants early on before the full Sun hits them
