Thought I would give Brussels a go this year. I am growing normal and purple brussels. However the green brussels I planted in small containers indoors about 4/5 weeks ago and they are growing and are about 3 inches high but the stems are very thin and they are just flopping over and some have bent. The purple ones I did about 3 weeks ago and they are growing well and standing up and the stems look like they are getting thicker. The green brussels flop over right from the start. Does anyone think the stems will grow thicker and stand up. They have about 3 leaves on them. Do I have to wait until they are stronger until I plant them outside.
Thanks Sue |

It could be:
They might be dampening-off - this is where they double over the stem would be very thin at the bottom - but they would usually die. Or are the plants to dry - and then they could topple over. Are there too many in the pots? Maybe plant them into individual pots. Have you checked the roots for any disturbance there? Hope this helps.

didn't realise that they were already in individual pots. Maybe you should start again. As the should be upright - the don't sound very healthy if they are already toppling over.
