Default lettuce worries

Hi everybody,
I was wondering if somebody could please help me. I am trying my first ever attempt at gardening and am giving a vegetable patch a go, but I'm worried my lettuce doesn't look right. I grew them from seeds indoors then planted them out but I have just noticed that some of them are looking a bit weak. They are growing bigger and have 'lettuce-like' leaves but a few have a funny bit on the stalk (if that's the proper term) where it looks like they've been pinched hard so that the top of the plant is leaning over due to the fact that the stalk can't support the weight.

Perhaps this sounds like a stupid question to you all, but I am just a bit worried as I am new to all of this. Is this a normal thing with lettuce? If it isn't normal, are they likely to recover? Also, I'm worried that they might get knocked about and damaged in a strong wind; am I being really paranoid or is this a legitimate worry? Sorry to have rambled on but I needed to get all the worry off my chest!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Could you post a photo? Are they individual plants or have you sown a lettuce mix?

i'm thinking they could have got a bit 'leggy' if they didn't get enough light indoors then got blown over? if they are still growing and still look healthy then they should be ok.

but as above a photo would help us make a positive ID
