I'm not sure if my friends in the UK get hail, but we do here unfortunatly. I was hoping for rain as we were getting very dry but I guess I hoped too hard
. We're getting the rain but we don't need the hail. Haven't been able to go out yet to see if there's much damage, and things were just starting to look really good.Attachment 1000Attachment 1001 Last edited by Husker; 16-06-2011 at 01:05 PM. |

I've just looked at the satelite pics of Hamburg Iowa, Lovely part of the world. I see there's a road out side called 'Dirt Lane'. Very appropriate!
![]() Hail, oh dear, hope your veg has survived, fingers crossed. We had some big hail here at one point over the winter, bit bigger than in your pics. Never seen hail so big! |

Hi all. Well I went out and check the garden this am and am happy to say that there wasn't too much damage, only a couple of newly sprouted cucs and melons were broken off and I was going to thin those anyway so i guess I was lucky. Hammer, the Costner film in Iowa was "Field of Dreams" the baseball movie. DwW was in Wy or there about and there is some pretty country out there but they don't have the green or trees we have here.
Alison you're right about Dirt Lane. There are alot of them around here and you don't wnt to be caught on one in a thunder storm . There are still places not too far away where it feels like you've gone back to native american times and it's not too hard to imagine what Lewis&Clark felt when they explored around here, except for the sounds of jets and cars .Good gardening folks. I'm sure glad I found this site. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
