Post Rain Damage!

Early this morning it started to rain, which is good as i have been watering the garden for a few weeks - very dry so far since Spring, very little rain, very unusual in Ireland.
However 7 hours later it is still raining and at times it has been very heavy, hard rain - this has some of my spuds leaning over under the weight of water and the softening of the soil, even the Cabbages (quite young plants) are keeling over, the stalk unable to keep the Cabbage upright. The Cabbages were planted in well firmed down soil.
Do i just wait for soil to dry and earth up again, the spuds were earthed up 5 or 6 weeks ago, i,ve never heard of earthing up Cabbage stalks, but why not? The soil will dry out fairly quickly - well drained raised bed.
Any advice welcome.
Regards Hammer.

Hi Hammer, I think you will find your plants will recover ok. When conditions allow just go round and firm in any cabbages that need it. Any potatoes that need it can be hoed up again.

Yes, the plants will all recovery very quickly. The cabbage plants always keel over when they have only recently been re-planted (mine all are) The potatoes will also recover but you might have to earth them up again. That's the fun of gardening

Hi Hammer. I think you should be ok. My plant will lean and tip after a hard rain and in a couple of days they're back where they were, but I like the idea of firming the soil a bit for extra support.
