I have tomato plants in the greenhouse and also outside.
I have just disposed of 2 large plants as the seem to have developed a type of blistering on the base of the stalk and have started to die. Having looked on the net, the problem may be a bacterial one. If this is the case can anybody recommend a product to stop the problem from dispersing to other healthy plants please. In addition, the plants in my greenhouse seem to have a "bunching" effect at the top, is this normal? Any help would be greatly received. I posted earlier a message about my tomato "stem blister" problem.
Having spent a bit more time researching, the problem may be Fusarium Crown Rot (sounds painful). A remedy for this may be a "fungicidal drench". Again I need some assistance, what is this and are there any brand recommendations? Help!! Graham |

I assume that means drenching with fungicide or applying fungicide thoroughly. As for brands, it depends if you are growing an organic vegetable garden or not.
For organic growing: * Copper and sulphur based fungicides - e.g.: Kocide 101 Other fungicides: * Daconil * Serenade (also a bactericide) * Actinovate Note: product names may differ depending on location. If in doubt, ask for fungicides based on Chlorothanolil, Maneb, or Mancozeb. __________________________________________________ _____ More info on tomato fungus control |
