Default Fatal transplant?

I've got a bell pepper plant - the F1 Sweet Britney - to be exact. It's been fruiting nicely in a smallish pot and I've got three peppers growing. One is about 7 cm long and the other two about 3 cm long. However, they've been at this size for awhile and after doing some reading I concluded that the pot was indeed far too shallow for them to reach their full potential. I bought a much larger, deeper pot the other day and transplanted them. When I was transplanting them, part of their roots were solidly stuck on their former terracotta pot, and I ended up losing a good 10-12cm worth of roots.....
My question (at last) - is there hope for my poor plant, or have I made a fatal error? It looks ok at the moment, but I have never grown peppers before....
If there's something I can do to ensure the pepper will pull through, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Greenthumb. Keep the plant moist and out of the wind but in the sun and see what happens. Personally I think you've got a good chance to save it as long as not too many roots were lost. It may set back your harvest a bit as the plant will need to put energy into making new roots. If it's really hot where you are you may want to give the plant some shade during the hottest part of the day, but even watering is going to be your best help, and I wouldn't fertilize until you're sure there are new roots estabished. Good luck.
