Default Storing whole pumpkin?

One of my giant pumpkins is already going orange and the plant dieinh back. It's a long way to Halloween! Any chance I can store it until then?? Would the fruit still be edible?

Default

Leave it on the plant to mature and harden off, till the plant is dead. Then cut the pumpkin off leaving at least 2" of stem and store in a sunny place covered against the rain. Yes, the fruit will be edible.
