Default I think my tomatoes are on their way out and I cant work out why :-(

Hello all.
I live in Southern Spain and have my tomatoes in pots. They were going great guns until one day they leaves started turning brown and the then I noticed the stems were also looking very weird with like spikes on them and now they look very poorly. The same thing is happening to my beans as well. Is it all over for them?

Maybe a daft question but could it be sun burn!? Have you watered when the sun is already hot? Tomato stems can be kind of hairy I think.

it doesn't look like anything serious. the really small leaves at the base have died because they arn't getting any light, the brown patches in the middle of the leaves looks like scorch, as the nut house pointed out and the steams look normal to me

how does the top of the plant look? any signs of damage on the fruit? oh and do you know the variety of tom you are growing, some do better if you remove the side shoots before they become branches.

not sure about the beans, wouldn't want to say without seeing a pic.
