Default christmas spuds

hi ibrought some christymas spuds and planted them back in august they are in potato sacks on tyhe patio they are now massive can i cut the foliage back by half or will this damage the the crop

Support the tops with 4 equi spaced canes pushed in to compost and wrap some garden twine round,do not cut back.

I agree. Definitely don't cut back. When the foliage dies off all the goodness is sucked back into the tubers, so if you cut the foliage off you will lose this and ther spuds won't be up to quality.

I just brought my three grow sacks into the greenhouse now that it's free of tomatoes and cucumbers. I hope this will give the spuds enough protection from the weather to produce a decent crop. I've never done christmas taties before and have heard very mixed reports so it's fingers crossed.
