Default Calling all DIY Brewers!

I am a huge supporter of making instead of buying, and I would love to interview people who make their own beer or wine for a story on my blog. If you'd like to contribute, please respond and we can go from there!

It's many a long year since I made my own wine and beer! But watching Hugh FW I am minded to start again! I have the equipment, just need a new bucket for fermenting. Did I ever tell you about the time a bottle of elderberry wine exploded in my hand thro re-fermentation?..........

This might interest you.

In 1993 I planted a Bramleys seedling apple tree. It is now about 16-20 feet high. Last autumn it gave me 100 lbs + of fruit. I am just finishing an apple pre ess that I have made. I wont be giving any more apples away to neighbours etc ! The incentive of course, is the fact that 75% of the cost of a drink in a pub is tax.

I also like the idea of blending cider. I thought this was only done with whiskey.

I make my own beer. Mainly from kits at the moment. Although research is under way into hops/malts. I would really like to make a good beer instead of the watery stuff that a kit produces.
