Default looking for high blood pressure recipes

Hi friends,
sorry to came up with this post, but it seems most of the recipe articles are for low fat, & unfortunately I am looking for some High blood pressure friendly recipes. I did few searches over Google & yahoo, but no success. so can you give me some recipe or any book from which I can control my blood pressure.

I've not got any recipes but garlic is a good bet. It has been shown to reduce blood presure.

No salt is key. Almost any recipe can have added salt removed and while the average palete is used to the salt it can be retrained to enjoy flavours without salt.

I stoped adding salt to my cooking a few years ago - yes, even when I boil spuds or other veg. Now I don't notice the lack - but neither do I turn beetroot coloured after any exercise!

I have high blood pressure also and I hardly use salt on anything ...chips on those rare occasions ! or eggs, but I think once you've got it it's hard to control by diet, conventional wisdom suggest exercise can be affective but if diet or exercise doesn't work you really should take the tablets.
After all they have practically no side effects and you might avoid a lot of trouble.

Exactly! My Nan used to eat quite a lot of sugar, sweets and salt until they told her she had high blood pressure. From then on she cooked without salts etc and got used to it suprisingly easy.

I generally try to cook things that don't need salt in the first place - I find it really hard to boil potatoes without adding salt!

I have managed to reduce my blood pressure by 20 points mainly through changing diet. Take out salt, it raises blood pressure; most saturated fats and ALL hydrogenated fats, as they lead to plaque lining the blood vessels.
The alliums are all good for you, especially garlic. My GP is all for garlic. It helps to relax the blood vessels, enabling the blood to flow more easily and helping to reduce the pressure.
Salt is a reletive recent addition to our diet, our ancestors did not pour on the salt.
I do not boil my potatoes, but microwave them in a covered container. This way you get to taste the real potato taste, which would otherwise be thrown out with the water.

Pulses are low fat and help reduce cholesterol too. Very good for the old BP. The bad news, avoid alcohol!
