Default KitchenTips

Stop the tears when chopping onions (KitchenTips).

To reduce the tears when peeling or slicing onions, chill them first.

Alternatively, cut off the top but leave the root on.

The root contains the largest amounts of sulphuric compounds, which cause tears when the onion is cut. Remove the root prior to cooking or eating.

I like your trick very much and it is very helpful to me.
Before applying your tip I hate to cut the onion but now
I like because now my tears are not coming. Thanks
for the nice tip

Hi

Before i started to wear glasses i resorted to wearing sunglasses when peeling shallots before pickling them, even after they had soaked for ages.
