Smile Raw Comsumption

There are a variety vegetables such as leafy, seeds, some can be consumed raw and some ought to be cooked in a diversity ways. Howbeit, some can be used in dessert and can be cooked for dishes.
Vegetables raw consumption is more nutritious than cooked one. Cabbage is a vegetable.
My question is: Can we consume a raw cabbage ? Help!..................

Smile "Raw Veg"

Hi Neselba,
We eat raw vegetables, with cabbage, we simply grate it mixed with carrot and a few slithers of parsnip add a few fresh herbs and a little oil or mayo, makes a great crunchy coleslaw, ummmmmm.

hiya Neselba

depends really.....for instance white cabbage can most definately be eaten raw but green cabbage tastes a whole lot better cooked, even if its only cooked briefly,This is because they contain more sulphurous compounds, which are removed in the cooking process.which can taste awfull on some palets....try a raw leaf it wont kill you but its not always the best tasting raw vegetable

a good recipe for a tasty coleslaw

coleslaw.....half a grated raw white cabbage

4 grated raw carrots

splash of olive oil

1 onion shredded

tea spoon of english mustard

a dollop of good quality mayo

salt & pepper to season

i was a chef for 17 years any advice i can give foody wise i would more than happy to share

Nik

Yum yum I can't wait to try this!! Have never made my own coleslaw before and don't tend to like the shop-bought stuff but I'm sure this will be delicious!

I always add in a dash of onion barbecue sauce (homemade) into my coleslaw dressing and scatter with pine nuts - the bbq sauce adds a delicious tang to the dressing.
