Default Tuna Sarnies Anyone?

What can I do with a giant sized tin of tuna? (Apart from the OH's idea which is 'put it in the bin') Are there recipes using tinned tuna or any delicious sandwich fillings that you know? I really would be most grateful for some ideas.

Lesley
My favourite way is to make some pesto and mix in the tuna for a quick spag sauce and of course cucumbers and homemade mayonnaise for the best tuna sandwiches. Salads too with a good chunky iceberg type lettuce. Never had a giant tin before but if I had loads would use it with beans, fry onions, garlic, add tomato sauce, tuna and anything else that takes my fancy plus beans or do something similar with rice.
If you have cats they will be queing up for their their rations as well.

Tuna pasta Bake?

Cook some pasta, chuck in the tuna and a couple of handfuls of chopped tomatos (tinned will do....) Put the whole mess into an oven proof dish and top with grated cheese - grill to brown.

Serve with Branston pickle and a side salad if you want.

great idea and simple

tuna fish cakes

boil some spuds and mash

your wanting around 2/3 spuds to tuna

let it cool down add the tuna and mix

flour a board and make into any size shapes you want, pop in the fridge to firm up again then fry when needed on a medium heat with a little oil until golden on one side then flip as its all cooked from the start your only looking for a crisp outside but warmed up inside

also great to let the kids help make them they can do there own sizes etc and makes them feel good making there own food

also great with tinned salmon

also you could make them small 2" diameter for party snacks pre cook then warm them in a low oven

For sandwich filling, tinned tuna then mix with smaller tin of mackeral then add chopped cucumber, onions, tomatoes then mix and leave in the fridge for a while. If you like salad or mayonnaise add that also although I don't.

For breakfast I occasionally have tuna flakes on toast with some finely chopped oninion and most importantly shredded cheese on top.

My Mum got this recipe when she lived in South Africa, it sounds a bit weird, but I'd recommend it (even though I haven't had it myself for XX years):

tuna and banananananaa curried sandwich filling:

tuna
mashed banana
teaspoon curry powder
mayonaisse

Mix, eat.

That's it.

This is simple I know - but my favourite way with tuna is mixed with cottage cheese for a sandwich or baked potato. Yum!

That is exactly what I was going to say! I'm sorry, but I do not like fish or seafood at all!!

One of the most disgusting things I have ever witnessed was an old work colleague who had a can of tuna for his lunch (that in itself if bad enough in my view). He opened the can, and with no utensils or cutlery, consumed the contents by slurping it into his mouth. As his little finale he slurped up all the tuna juice and threw the can in the bin... as if it was a can of fizzy drink or something! Oh my - just remembering it makes me feel sick!

tuna and banananananaa curried sandwich filling - erm... just no!

I'd go for a simple tuna sandwich.

Probably thick sliced wholemeal loaf, butter/marg, cucumber and tuna mixed with either salad cream or mayonnaise and some pepper.

Luurvely!!!

Lesley - I agree, well almost. Have you tried tuna mixed with cottage cheese? It's yum! With cucumber as well, of course!
