What can I do with a giant sized tin of tuna? (Apart from the OH's idea which is 'put it in the bin') Are there recipes using tinned tuna or any delicious sandwich fillings that you know? I really would be most grateful for some ideas.

My favourite way is to make some pesto and mix in the tuna for a quick spag sauce and of course cucumbers and homemade mayonnaise for the best tuna sandwiches. Salads too with a good chunky iceberg type lettuce. Never had a giant tin before but if I had loads would use it with beans, fry onions, garlic, add tomato sauce, tuna and anything else that takes my fancy plus beans or do something similar with rice. If you have cats they will be queing up for their their rations as well. Sue |

Tuna pasta Bake?
Cook some pasta, chuck in the tuna and a couple of handfuls of chopped tomatos (tinned will do....) Put the whole mess into an oven proof dish and top with grated cheese - grill to brown. Serve with Branston pickle and a side salad if you want. |

For sandwich filling, tinned tuna then mix with smaller tin of mackeral then add chopped cucumber, onions, tomatoes then mix and leave in the fridge for a while. If you like salad or mayonnaise add that also although I don't.
For breakfast I occasionally have tuna flakes on toast with some finely chopped oninion and most importantly shredded cheese on top. . |

My Mum got this recipe when she lived in South Africa, it sounds a bit weird, but I'd recommend it (even though I haven't had it myself for XX years):
tuna and banananananaa curried sandwich filling: tuna mashed banana teaspoon curry powder mayonaisse Mix, eat. That's it. |

Lesley - I agree, well almost. Have you tried tuna mixed with cottage cheese? It's yum! With cucumber as well, of course!
