Smile My Pond!

Ok, I know my pond and it's fishies are strictly not "wild" but the pond brings all sorts of insects, birds and amphibians to my garden!

Here are some pics of the pond... we have some really lovely lilies that have come up this week.

The lillies are gorgeous! Do you have any pictures of the whole pond? I've been trying to talk myself out of building one all week!

Awww.... I am so jealous, that is beautiful.

You are very lucky - I think my boyfriend would take a lot of convincing to let me have one.

Awww thanks everyone, I'm really pleased with how it's come along.

My pond is in a raised bed which was already quite well established when we bought the house three years ago. I am waiting on a solar-powered fountain I have bought to be delivered, which will not only look nice but bring oxygen into the water (apparently) which is much needed in the hotter weather.

I bought those five little fish you can see a few weeks back. There is one mega big boy in there too who must be around 6" long now... I was worried he would eat my little uns but they are all doing well.

Here is the pond in the raised bed:

I love that raised pond by the way, it's really nice looking! We have been lucky I guess that our pond was already in and established but I would love something so smart and new looking like that one!

The only thing that concerns me (other than finding the dosh) is its quite shallow. I've emailed the company who confirm it IS suitable for up to 6 goldfish without any additional winter care. Still undecided wether or not to build my own. Other half isnt keen on the idea but if its done when he gets in from work its done

Here's a clip I took just a moment ago of my fishies having their dinner! There is some sound, it's my neighbours having a "World Cup Party"!!!

I think your a bad influence on me, guess what i've been building all weekend. Was the water lilly there when you moved in or did you plant it?

There's some pictures on my thread 'Weed ridden dumping ground to glorious vegetable garden' thought it was easier to keep everything together.

I was very close to ordering the raised pond from Garden Oasis but it was only 1ft deep (too much temptation for the dogs), only came with an optional pump-no filters, and is a liner rather than a plastic mould which i prefer. So i decided to build what i wanted instead

Oh dogs and the pond, hehe! I caught my two having a drink his afternoon and scaring the fishies!

I found these egg patches under the Lily Pads this afternoon, slight yellow/orange tinge - any one have any ideas what it is?

Bootiful!!! Although I have to admit I have never ever wanted to have a pond!

In fact I hate watering plants as well.

My motto is; if it is in a container or building it gets watered, if it isn't; it doesn't!

That's Mother Natures job
