Default Wild Bird Seed Identification

Maybe a strange question? but it seems the birds in Essex do not like a seed in the bag I bought, and unfortunatly theres loads so its a bit of a waste

I was wondering if anyone could ID it so I can get another bag of bird seed without this stuff in it...

this is the seed they do not like

This is the mix with the above in it

And this is the waste!!

Not even the doves or pigeons are cleaning it up

Matt

Hi Matt,

I think that is wheat.

The little birds don't eat it but my pigeons and doves eat it. The little birds toss it from the bird table and the pheasants also eat it. No waste in my garden. The pheasants fav is potatoes and the blackies like fruit. I throw all my left overs out and it's gone in no time.

You may struggle to get seed without wheat in it, not sure if I have seen it before.

Thanks Lisa

We have got at least 2 pairs of woodys that must live close and a trio of doves but they never clean up?

I'd love to live where Pheasants frequented the garden but I live in an estate in the southeast

Thanks for the heads up, i'm now going on a mission to find bird feed without wheat

Well managed to get some without wheat mixed in

Looks more like budgie seed so i'll see how it does

Also managed to get 50 fat balls for under a tenner I've been paying nearly 3£ for 6

Hi Matt,

That's great. I hate waste too.

£3 for 6 fat balls seems quite expensive, glad you've some cheaper.

Funnily, its a local garden centre that we always thought was expensive that had the bargain with the fat balls And we also joined the 'club' so apparently going to save more!

I'm happy, hopefully the birds will be too

As for the wheat, whilst doing one of my favorite garden chores, i've noticed that my Jack Russell is trying to clean up
