Default Look What's Sunbathing....

.....in the pond up the road from us..... Terrapins...It's been so hot and sunny that they are still out and about...not ready to hibernate yet ....When kids in the eighties got bored of their real Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they ended up in the nearest pond.. most probably didn't survive due to the very cold winters we use to have...but these have definitely done well....and it's lovely to watch them sunbathing....

This one is the size of a bloody great dinner plate... OH took the pictures on the way home yesterday....enjoy!

Yep..North London...great aren't they. Some busy bodies got a petition together to get them removed because they said they were chasing children....nothing better to do huh. They will never catch them because they are too fast....they are away into the water if they sense danger...just aswell really.

Hi lisa. Whereabouts in North London? I come from "The Smoke". It's not Hampstead Heath is it?

True, but it's humans that interfered with them in the first place...we didn't have grey squirrels until some bright spark decided to let some go...the same with Terrapins...the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle craze in the 80's encouraged children to keep them as pets not knowing how big they would get or that they live long lives and soon got bored of them...thus leading to parents letting them go in park ponds etc....it's not the animals fault, it's humans...P.S...I never moan about grey squirrels, I love them
